2022.01.27 21:23 foundfootagefan Does anybody else think the Pop! Dark theme should be a little darker?

Just wondering if anybody else has the same thought that I do. I like it and I haven't found a better theme so far, but I wish Pop! Dark were a little bit darker?
I'm not saying it should be OLED black. I'm just saying it could be a little darker so it improves the contrast and makes the UI feel more "sleek".
Anybody else have the same thought?

2022.01.27 21:23 Nousentre The most recent TWAB mentioned "build crafting" again. Bungie, you need to make Resilience part of that concept.

For too long have we seen Resilience be a meme for Titans across the board since they're the only ones who would ever need it just to have a faster barricade cooldown. Given the changes to Nightfalls coming in season 15 with the *acute* modifier, we'll be dying faster, and now more than ever does the idea of damage resistance really feel like something that should be prevalent towards build crafting. The fact that there is not a single reason for a Warlock or Hunter to go past tier 5 for resilience is proof enough this stat needs a change. So let's change it!

# **The current state of the stat**

The following concept changes for resilience is to to make it feel like its doing something, and since our health/shield bar on the UI doesn't displays numbers, that *feeling* should be a impactful. PvP makes resilience worthwhile to a certain extent, but going past tier 6 in the current meta feels like wasted points. PvE makes that 13% to shields at tier 10 feel incredibly underwhelming, and when you can still be one-shot in endgame content no matter the resilience level, there's no doubt specializing into *anything else* feels like the right thing to do. Guardians have mentioned making resilience a **damage reduction** stat, and though I'm no game developer that feels like a technical hurdle for Bungie rather a practical one. However, given Bungie's recent changes to Ward of Dawn and Well of Radiance, we make can make Resilience work in tandem with damage reduction perks already available to us.
Bungie has mentioned making stats matter more; it's the whole reason they changed and individualized cool downs for all of our abilities. The same needs to happen with *increasing the damage you take.*

# **Why even bother with resilience when we can just have damage reduction?**

There are plenty of damage reduction mods in-game that are quite potent in Destiny. We have:

Honestly it wasn't until Bungie made the upgrade to Whisper of Chains for Stasis that I wondered why such a beautiful change wasn't available elsewhere for Guardians who merely wanted to stay in the fight longer. Behemoth Titan now has a place in endgame content due to the amount of damage one can take with that fragment, really playing into the concept of just being a bullet sponge.
We also have protective light which may very well be less useful due to the changes coming to orb generation. This is mod is quite *literally* the only mod of use for endgame builds in Master and Grandmaster content since it allows you to reposition yourself and avoid meeting your demise. Since losing your shields is what grants this benefit, some builds would insinuate lower resilience to take advantage of the perk.
Well of tenacity is a weak mod, and requires way too much of one-sided build just for a measly 10% damage reduction. If we want to include it as part of our builds it needs a serious buff.
The chest mods can often save you from being one-shot in endgame content, regardless of your resilience level if you pick your loadout properly. However since they specialize in certain damage and have very diminishing effects for stacking, stacking is often arbitrary. These would see a drastic buff, and due to this might require more armor energy cost (perhaps 2 instead of 1) but I believe would be well worth it.
All of these things do sound enough, so the question then begs: *why the hell can resilience do to make them better?*
If resilience made all of these mods stronger, you'd probably start reconsidering living the way Titans want to live play this game: not dying from punching things.

# **You'll need a bigger gun if you want to hurt me**

Before anything, we have to streamline something for the sake of crunching numbers. With the changes I'd like to see, **Resilience Tier 10 would be a 15% shield increase**. I genuinely don't know how the Crucible would change with that number (this new Tier 10 would mean a guardian has roughly 204 HP), but let's focus on PvE. While this change alone wouldn't mean much, the idea is to make the stat matter. **This is because resilience should increase the effects of damage resistance in the game.** After all, isn't the description "increases the amount of damage you can take before dying"? So let's have it do just that!
Just so we're clear, since the point of this is to make resistance matter, we'd be seeing some changes to *how much* damage resistance one receives. It would look something like this:

Now does the resistance tier 10 change make sense? The idea would be to make being a bullet sponge worthwhile if you truly wanted to spec out for it. Tier 10 has never looked appealing to all you Hunter and Warlock mains, so maybe this would change your mind. Or at least make you rethink those lowly Tier levels.

# **Make it happen Bungie!**

It always breaks my heart that resilience plays such a miniscule role in this game, and I'd like to see a change for the better. Bungie's new nightfall modifier means a CQC playstyle is no style at all in this game's harder difficulties. They said they want to avoid a tactical playstyle, yet a risky playstyle has to emerge when Guardians can die so quickly.
I have little hope Void 3.0 will add damage resistance in some way shape or form, but I'm prepared to be surprised. That doesn't excuse other subclasses being left in the dust, since it's clear Bungie wants build crafting to be a core part of the experience. Doesn't it bother anyone that *ALL arc subclasses* have no utility in endgame content? They're melee builds, and when you can't live long enough being close to opponents to try and use part of your kit, the subclass feels like it gets left behind. Middle tree Striker and Middle Tree Stormcaller are only relevant due to Cuirass of the Falling Star and the recently nerfec Geomags, respectively. Hunter Arcstrider feels like deadweight to your allies in GMs. Subclasses shouldn't have to rely on exotics just to be relevant, and even with Arc 3.0 yet to come, its hard to say if their utility would ever change.
Bungie has a ways to go to making all styles of play fun and diverse, so I truly believe in making resilience a part of that plan. Destiny has evolved so much, and because of that just as much gets left behind. We need to see small changes like this to really have some risky (and tanky) playstyles.

# **TL:DR**

Resilience sucks. Needs to change. All classes benefit from this change.

  1. Make resilience tier 10 a 15% increase to shields (up from 13%)
  2. Resilience affects chest piece damage resistance mods (20% to 35% resist for 1 mod, 35% to 50% resist for 2 stacking mods)
  3. Resilience affects Protective Light (40% to 55% damage reduction)
  4. Resilience affects Well of Tenacity (10% to 25% damage reduction)
